Big Changes in South Florida: Winn-Dixie Stores to Become Aldi

Big Changes in South Florida Winn-Dixie Stores to Become Aldi

In the upcoming months, some South Florida Winn-Dixie facilities will be transformed into Aldi bargain supermarkets.

While other Winn-Dixies will close for renovations starting in January, one on Boynton Beach Boulevard has already closed for the project.

These are the stores that are undergoing conversion:

  • 5060 Seminole Pratt Whitney Road, Westlake in Palm Beach
  • 20417 Biscayne Boulevard, Aventura
  • 941 Southwest 24th Street, Fort Lauderdale

According to an Aldi representative, the stores are being converted in order to provide better customer service.

According to the spokesperson, “Customers can expect a quick, easy shopping experience with great products at the lowest possible prices. Our smaller stores are stocked with only the items customers need so they can get in and out, and our award-winning exclusive brands help shoppers save up to 40% on their groceries without sacrificing quality.”

The employees of the stores undergoing conversion can choose to stay with Winn-Dixie and move to a nearby location, or they can be the first to apply to new ALDI locations.

Last year, Aldi made the announcement that it will purchase about 400 Winn-Dixie and Harveys supermarkets in the southern United States.

It has previously declared that some stores would be switched to the Aldi model, which reduces expenses by implementing self-bagging and lean inventory.
