In South Miami, a courageous 16-year-old fought off a New York creep who attempted to kidnap her early Thursday morning with a flurry of punches and kicks.
According to accounts, the adolescent was walking with her pals in a suburban neighborhood shortly after midnight when 32-year-old Brian Gamboa approached her in his car and attempted to eject her.
The teenager told CBS News Miami, “A guy came out of the car, he approached me and started attacking me by my shoulders and the back of my head. I fought back – I threw my phone at him, I started kicking him, I started screaming, I started punching him.”
The youngster reportedly resisted Gamboa’s attempt to shove her to the ground and overwhelm her.
She went on, “I dragged him down with me. Then I kicked him in the crotch and the head and ran off. I screamed for help at a neighbor’s door.”
According to WSVN, the 16-year-old student, Valerie, claimed that Gamboa seemed “drunk” and “really wobbly.”
The teenager fled and dialed 911 right after, but it wasn’t until a few hours later that Gamboa was apprehended following a hit-and-run incident outside a restaurant in South Miami.
Gamboa was taken into custody by Miami-Dade police on Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to abduct and assault a minor. Gamboa was placed under house arrest and his bond was set at $30,000.
Following the teen’s intense altercation, Gamboa had a large cut on his forehead and new scratches on his face when he was photographed.According to CBS, Gamboa, a Miami resident and native of New York, has previously been charged with marijuana possession and driving while suspended.
According to police records, Gamboa had a warrant out for leaving the scene of an accident that caused property damage.
In Florida, first-degree kidnapping is punishable by up to 30 years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
“It was really scary. I’m OK, except the fact that my knee is messed up,” Valerie stated. “Like, I’m OK. I got pretty lucky; like, it could have been way worse for me. I didn’t want to have a story like that. I didn’t want to have his impact on my life like that, so I was just fighting.”
