In the past two weeks, trucks owned by TexCon and TexCrete in Robertson and Montgomery counties have had over 100 tires stolen. Brazos County Crime Stoppers is reacting by offering assistance.
In Montgomery County, 62 tires were taken from TexCrete trucks on July 28. Thirty tires were taken from the Robertson County TexCon venue on August 4.
These meticulously timed nighttime thefts were carried out. In each instance, lug nuts were left on the ground, security cameras were turned off, and front gate locks were taken. When the theft occurred, these tires were brand-new and on the cars.
“They were able to come in, evade the security cameras, cut the power and during the night were able to steal all the tires. When my employees showed up Monday morning the trucks were there jacked up on stumps with no tires,” Mike Price, general manager of TexCrete stated.
The trucks were not in working order when the drivers arrived for work.
“Unfortunately when they come in in the morning and we have stuff scheduled and they are ready to go to work, well they can’t even use their equipment to go to work,” Price stated.
It was not the only construction company that had tires stolen, according to Bill Ruland, Chief Deputy of the Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) for Robertson County.
According to Department Chief Ruland, “There’s some similar situations in Grimes County and Waller County as well. We’re in touch with those law enforcement agencies to try and piece together where this is happening.”
According to Spencer Buchanan, vice president of TexCon, tire replacement and lost revenue pile up quickly in this industry. This affects not just the two firms, but also the other companies and individuals that those businesses deal with.
“It interrupts the flow of transportation of goods to build roads and pour concrete, and also some of these other companies are smaller and they can’t absorb losses like that,” Dep. Chief Ruland stated.

TexCon promised a $5,000 prize for information that resulted in the identification, detention, and conviction of an accountable individual. After some time, in an effort to support the neighborhood businesses, Brazos County Crime Stoppers joined the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.
“In an effort to help our neighbors and to prevent future similar incidents,” Brazos County Crime Stoppers stated that it wants to share the news. Crime Stoppers promised to disburse the $5,000 reward in the event that it obtains information that results in an arrest.
