Breaking News Train Crashes into Stuck Car Hauler During Heavy Rain in Hollywood, Florida!

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – South Florida has had 24 hours of heavy rain that has made the roads dangerous for more than just cars and trucks.

Train service between Miami and Fort Lauderdale was briefly stopped after a passenger train crashed into a car hauler trailer that was stuck on the tracks.

It happened on April 12 in Hollywood, Florida, near where Dixie Highway and Washington Street meet.

When the cars and van hit, they went sideways.

“The train was going fast and he was using the horn, but the truck wasn’t moving until the train crashed into the trailer and broke it in half,” said Alexander Quintero, who was at a stop light when he saw the crash coming and started recording.

“He tried to move forward, but his wheels started spinning, and he didn’t move at all,” Quintero said. “I saw that he couldn’t get off the train. When I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the light of the train coming up behind me, I knew something bad was about to happen.”

In a statement, Brightline said, “Service has been stopped between [Fort Lauderdale] and Miami (only) while PD and Brightline’s team work to clear the scene, and the weather is making that job harder.”

A Facebook post says that Brightline went back to standard operations around 8 a.m. local time on Thursday.

Brightline said that, despite the mess, no one had been hurt.
