SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE, FLA. – Investigators have found a big clue about the deaths of three people at a graduation party that happened years ago.
Police have arrested five people in connection with a shooting and crash in Kendall that killed three people, including a Florida prison officer, and hurt at least five others in June 2021. The incident happened after a graduation party.
Alfredo “Freddy” Ramirez, the Director of Miami-Dade Police, said, “Following tips and leads and working with all of our criminal justice partners, we were able to make five arrests: three related to the homicide and two narcotic firearm subjects connected to these heinous acts.”
Jeremy Devine was one of the five people who were arrested, and he went to bond court on Friday. He is charged with second-degree murder. Also charged with second-degree murder, William Lee Thomas III and Melchelzadek Jacory Matthews are waiting to be sent back to Miami.
Two more people are linked to the case, according to the police. James Johnson III is charged with having drugs, and Aaron Clermont is charged with having drugs and a gun.
Ramirez said that even though people have been arrested, police are still looking into the accident.
“I just want to let the public know that we’re not done with this case yet. “We will never forget our victims, and we will never forget their families,” Ramirez said.
“We hear the moms crying in the street, especially because one of the people who died was a corrections officer who was part of our law enforcement family and died in an act of gun violence that made no sense.”
