After a Florida Amber Alert was issued on Sunday, deputies accused a 43-year-old man of kidnapping his daughter and murdering her mother, grandfather, and neighbor in Broward County.
After killing her 34-year-old mother, Mary Gingles; her 64-year-old grandfather, David Pozner; and her 36-year-old neighbor, Andrew Ferrin, Nathan Gingles abducted his 4-year-old daughter, Seraphine, from Tamarac on Sunday, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.
Divers looked in a nearby pond on Monday for a weapon. Before the gunman killed her and Ferrin, a homeowner’s nephew, the distraught mother raced door to door pleading for help, according to a neighbor who pointed to footsteps on the ground.
Two residences had crime scenes. Deputies reported finding Andrew Ferrin and Mary Gingles dead at 5888 North Plum Bay Parkway, and David Pozner, the grandpa, in the back patio at 5897 North Plum Bay Parkway.
Detectives located Nathan Gingles and his daughter Sunday afternoon at the Walmart Supercenter located at 7900 West McNab Road in North Lauderdale, following the issuance of an Amber Alert.
In a statement, BSO spokeswoman Carey Codd said, “Nathan Gingles was taken into custody and Seraphine was found safe and unharmed.”
Nathan Gingles was charged with three charges of first-degree murder, violation of an order of protection against domestic violence, and interference with the custody of a juvenile on Monday morning in Fort Lauderdale, according to inmate records.
Detectives encircled a parked 2016 silver BMW X3 with a Texas license plate that had been listed in the Amber Alert outside the Walmart where deputies had taken Gingles into custody.
On the license plate, there was a short line that said, “U.S. Army Honorably Discharged.”
According to Broward County court documents, the Gingles and a link to military duty were involved in three family court cases last year.
On February 9, 2024, a domestic violence after service complaint was submitted to family court. The petitioner was Mary Gingles. On July 10, the case was closed.

According to court documents in the cases, Nathan Gingles worked for General Dynamics and Mary Gingles was an IT support specialist for a legal firm.
