Bruno, a pug, was donated to the Humane Society of Central Oregon a few days ago. They had no idea that Bruno was from Sacramento, California. We don’t know how he came to Bend.
Bruno’s owner, Lorenzo, picked up the family’s 6-year-old Pug from Sacramento. Lorenzo and the Humane Society don’t know how Bruno arrived to Bend.
He claims that on November 8, Bruno was dog-sitted by a friend of the family, but he managed to get out of the backyard. Bruno was discovered at a petrol station on Bend’s south side three weeks later.
According to HSCO Director of Community Partnerships Lynne Ouchida, microchip identification and even a collar and ID tag are the quickest ways to reunite yourself with your pet. Bruno’s reunion with his family, who live all the way in Sacramento, would not have been possible without Bruno’s microchip.
Everything the Humane Society needed to find Bruno’s owner was provided via the Microchip.
While receiving care at the shelter, he was washed up and treated. It is unknown who had Bruno previously or how he arrived in the High Desert.
“If you lose or find an animal, report it to your local shelter, whether it’s in bend or anywhere where you’re at; reporting it to a local shelter ensures that somebody may have called and said that they’ve lost a pet” Ouchida stated.

According to Lorenzo, he has not yet informed his family that he has located Bruno. He wishes to surprise his children by himself.
