Central Florida Man in Custody Arrest for Abuse of Eight-Month-Old Baby

A 33-year-old Central Florida man has been taken into custody by the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office on charges of aggravated child abuse against an eight-month-old infant.

The mother of an eight-month-old baby left her child with James Clark, 33, on February 18th so she could go to work.

The mother received a call from Clark while she was at work, telling her that the child had burned their hand while reaching into a cup of hot chocolate by accident.

When the mother got home, she saw that her child had multiple bruises all over his body and that he had sustained serious injuries. The mother hurried her child to the hospital right away.

Upon examination by my medical staff, it was determined that the infant had sustained multiple external injuries. These included a non-displaced left parietal fracture, ruptured blood vessels, severe burns requiring skin grafting, and injuries to the ears from high-velocity impact.

Clark was apprehended on February 22, 2024, without any problems, and was accused of the following: Two cases of severe child abuse and one case of child neglect.

“The magnitude of this case is indescribable; the thought that someone could inflict such harm on a defenseless eight-month-old baby is sickening,” Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister stated. “We are disgusted by this man’s actions and will ensure that he is held accountable for his cruelty. We’re committed to making sure every child is secure and protected.”
