This weekend marks the return of one of the greatest restaurants in Chicago. Calumet Fisheries, the well-liked restaurant in South Deering, will return on Saturday following a fire that forced it out of business six months ago, according to the Chicago Tribune.
The well-known Chicago landmark is well-known for its assortment of on-site smoked seafood, which includes shrimp and fish. There are currently just two wood-burning smokehouses in the city.
Calumet Fisheries, which opened its doors in 1928, is regarded by many as one of Chicago’s top seafood restaurants.
The roadside shack was featured in a 2009 episode of No Reservations featuring the late Anthony Bourdain, and in 2010 it was awarded the America’s Classics award by the James Beard Foundation.

An electrical fire in November of last year nearly destroyed the entire eatery. Despite significant damage to the majority of the interior and equipment, firefighters were able to salvage the almost century-old building.
There’s no need for devoted followers to fret about the experience evolving.
Even though the interior has been renovated, there is still no seating, so patrons will need to eat outside at picnic tables or on the street near the 95th Street bridge or in their cars. On the other hand, the bathroom has been updated to contemporary norms.
Are you salivating yet? On Saturday, Calumet Fisheries will reopen at 9 a.m. and be open until 9:45 p.m.
