After being unexpectedly closed only weeks ago, plans are now in place to revive the five Alamo Drafthouse movie theaters located in North Texas.
Following the purchase of the network of dine-in theaters by a new corporate owner, the announcement was made.
Reopening in Dallas, Richardson, Las Colinas, Lake Highlands, and Denton are the North Texas locations of Sony Pictures. Furthermore, the business intends to reopen a theater in Woodbury, Minnesota, which is in close proximity to St. Paul.
Upon closing the theaters, the former owner, Two is One, One is None, LLC, declared bankruptcy preparations.
Alamo Drafthouse has experienced “major success” this summer, according to company management, with films including “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” “The Bikeriders,” and “Inside Out 2.” These reopenings coincide with this success.
Alamo Drafthouse CEO Michael Kustermann stated in a news release, “We’re so excited to reestablish Alamo Drafthouse Cinema for our teammates and local film communities in these great cities during an incredibly successful summer of moviegoing.”
Approximately 600 workers were affected overall.

An Alamo Drafthouse statement states that workers will be “made whole for lost wages that they were owed before the closures.”
According to the company’s press statement, affected employees will have “first access to interviews for open positions.” Rehired employees will get “a more robust benefits plan with immediate eligibility, including access to daily pay, substantial 401k match, paid medical leave, accrued PTO, free mental health services.”
Free ticket vouchers will be given to ticket holders who are due refunds because of the unexpected closings.
