Columbia Mall Shooting Leaves One Dead in Howard County

According to authorities, a guy is dead following a gunshot at the Columbia Mall in Howard County. According to the authorities, the shooting happened amid a fight that broke out inside the mall’s food court. “No indications” of an active shooter were present, according to the police.

In response to the event, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball stated, “I am aware of the ongoing situation at the Mall in Columbia. Our Howard County Police Department is actively investigating, and will provide updates as information becomes available.”

In a press conference held after the event, Howard County Police Director of Public Affairs Sherry Llewellyn provided additional information.

Around 6:10, according to the police, they received a report of gunfire inside the food court. Officers discovered a deceased male victim when they arrived.

“We don’t believe that this was a random incident, and we do believe the victim was targeted.  We don’t have any information about a history of a relationship between the two, but based on our preliminary evidence, this was not a random incident,” Llewellyn stated.

In the incident, there were no additional casualties. The male victim and the suspect were not named by the authorities.
