According to the reports of the Florida Highway Patrol, a collision that occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Marion County and involved a semitruck was responsible for the death of an Ocala citizen.

The event occurred at approximately 1:14 p.m. close to the intersection of County Road 318 and United States Highway 301.

The accident report states that a man in Ocala, Florida, who was 83 years old at the time of the collision, was operating an eastbound pickup truck on County Road 38 at the same time as a semitruck pulling a flat-bed trailer was traveling north on U.S. Highway 301.

A collision occurred as a result of the pickup vehicle driving into the path of the oncoming semitruck at the junction, which led to the semitruck hitting the side of the pickup truck. Unfortunately, the Ocala man’s death was confirmed at the scene of the accident.

It was determined that the driver of the semitruck was a resident of Benson City, North Carolina, and that he was 42 years old.

It has been confirmed by the troopers that both the northbound and southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 301 have been closed in order to facilitate the investigation.
