A Wisconsin lady was taken into custody on Tuesday, allegedly breaking into a house while posing as the homeowner.
The Madison Police Department announced that Joanna Kelly Lee, the suspect, was charged with both burglary and criminal trespass. Around 10:40 p.m. on Tuesday, she was taken into custody.
The resident of the house returned at 10:30 p.m. and noticed someone inside, according to the police, who then reported the crime.
As she had been gone for the most of the day, the victim was “startled to see all the lights on,” according to the Madison Police Department.
“Police arrived and observed through windows a female casually walking around the interior of the home,” as per the department’s statement. “The female, later identified as Joanna K. Lee, came to the door in response to orders given by police.”
According to the authorities, Lee even mentioned the occupant by name and “calmly advised” officers that she was welcome to stay in the house.
“Lee provided a detailed story about how she met the resident at a coffee shop earlier and had been given keys to the house,” police stated. “Lee had been in the house long enough to cook herself a shrimp and pasta dinner.

“The resident, however, insisted that she had never met Lee and that Lee did not have permission to be in her home eating her food.”
It was later discovered by authorities that the suspect read through the resident’s correspondence to find out her name and create a false narrative. She was taken into custody at the Dane County Jail without delay. Investigating authorities are in action.
