FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Thursday, the two dangerous people who were caught after a police chase through several counties will go to court.
Edward Foster, 22, and Matthew Geimer Jr., also 22, were caught on Wednesday after leading several police stations on a drive that ended with their capture.
The trouble started in North Miami when police were called to a carjacking with guns. Geimer led the police all the way up to Palm Beach County and back down to Broward as they chased the stolen car.
Foster eventually tried to use a gun to steal another car, but the driver wouldn’t open the door for him.
Geimer stopped near Commercial Boulevard and Rock Island. He pulled out a gun and stole a white Tesla. He drove away without Foster, leaving him to take care of himself.
Geimer, however did not get far. A police truck hit the Tesla head-on, and Geimer got out, pretended to give up, and ran away. He jumped into a ditch to try to get away from the police.
Soon after, he ran into the house of an unknown person and locked himself in for about 10 minutes.
Gisela Taveras, who is 71 years old, said that she saw the whole thing on Channel 7 News before Geimer broke into her house.
She said she saw the man running through her neighborhood on TV, but she didn’t think she would meet the suspect in person.
She ran out of the house and flagged down a policeman before going to her neighbor’s house for protection.
The Broward sheriff’s officers would then surround her home with guns drawn until Geimer turned himself in 15 minutes later with his hands up and only his red underwear on.
Foster and Geimer are being charged with several things, including trying to get away from the cops. They are in the Broward County Main Jail with no release until their court date.
The armed car theft and attempted armed car theft that happened in Broward County will be looked into by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
