Early on Saturday morning, an 18-year-old guy on Chicago’s Southwest Side lost his life after his car collided with a CTA bus. After the bus crashed into a storefront, three more people suffered injuries.
In the Little Village neighborhood, the collision occurred in the 4000 block of West 26th Street at around four in the morning. Beneath a bus-sized hole in the building, a pile of bricks was created as the façade and a portion of the roof collapsed.
Prior to the crash, the crossing was peaceful, according to surveillance footage. The automobile rolls sideways, sending sparks flying, and the CTA bus crashes into the structure.
Amparo Galan reported that she was traveling to work via bus. She had just closed her eyes when she felt as though someone had pushed her off her chair.
The bus was struck by a white automobile driven by an 18-year-old who blew a red light at 26th Street and Pulaski Road, according to Chicago Police. In the passenger seat was a woman, age 21. The four people inside the bus and automobile were sent to hospitals.
