Wednesday night, police said that two crashes in Philadelphia resulted in one person dying and another badly injured. The first crash involved a 30-year-old woman riding in Rittenhouse Square.
According to authorities, the bicyclist was killed in a crash that occurred at the junction of Spruce and 18th streets at 7 p.m.
The bicyclist, who was also going west on Spruce Street in the bike lane, was struck by a “blue 2018 vehicle” driven by a 68-year-old man, according to police.
According to investigators, the woman suffered from significant head injuries. At 7:20 p.m., she was brought to Jefferson Hospital and declared deceased. According to authorities, no charges have been brought up as of yet.
At approximately the same time, authorities in Northeast Philadelphia reported that a man in his 50s was struck and killed by a driver of a black Toyota while he was standing on the corner. Shortly after 7 p.m., something happened at the intersection of Frankford and East Allegheny avenues.

At 7:15 p.m., according to police, doctors declared the man deceased at the spot. The Toyota’s driver remained at the site. Authorities said that no arrests had been made.
A hit-and-run driver struck and seriously injured a 26-year-old in East Germantown earlier in the day, according to the police. Just after 4:30 p.m., the 26-year-old was crossing the street when he was hit and fled. According to authorities, she was admitted to Einstein Hospital in severe condition.
The 26-year-old was struck by someone who, according to the police, fled in a blue Cadillac. The driver, a woman, was apprehended after the automobile was eventually located on the 5600 block of Sprague Street, according to the authorities.
