Three kids and two adults were inside the van when it was hit from behind by a semi-tractor trailer on I-70’s left lane when the van stopped to change a flat tire, according to investigators.
This section of the highway does not have a left-side shoulder big enough for certain cars to pull over, according to the police.
The crash is not thought to have been caused by alcohol or drugs. No injuries were sustained by the semi-truck driver.
We’re still looking into what caused the crash. During the investigation and cleaning, I-70’s left lanes were blocked for over five hours.
Although it is currently unknown what state the other participants in the incident are in, they are said to be in stable health.
