Decades-Old Christmas Surprise Illinois Man Finds Gift With His Name Hidden in Parents’ Walls

WPBN: In his childhood house, an Illinois man just found a buried treasure behind a wall.

Tim King, who owns T.King Construction Services in Lombard, explained that he discovered a Christmas gift bearing his name behind a bathroom wall while assisting his parents with a remodeling project.

“We took out a medicine cabinet before we drywalled, and I thought, ‘I’d better just look in there to make sure nothing’s back there,'” King, 53, told. “And then there it was!”

A video that King uploaded to Instagram on December 27 and which has earned more than 35,000 likes as of January 4 is the one that King posted about the encounter.

While the audience was watching the video, King led them to a location behind a wall in the restroom and then pulled out a present that was carefully wrapped and covered in dust. The post was captioned with the hashtag “#Christmasmiracle.”

In a subsequent video, King can be seen opening the present and showing the goods that were contained within it. The box included Matchbox Thunder Jet model airplanes, which are now considered to be vintage.

“We waited to open it in front of her because my mother wasn’t awake yet,” he adds, adding that his mother had no recall of ever purchasing the gift. “We waited to open it in front of her.”

The box most likely dropped into a crawl space without anybody ever knowing, according to King, who recalls that his parents used to conceal gifts in the attic throughout their childhood.

Based on his estimations, the item would have been brand new around the year 1978, which would have meant that he would have been approximately six years old at the time.

And what does King think about the fact that the finding was made so late?

“So I have one sister, and my mom has always been very picky about getting us the exact same amount of gifts,” he stated, adding with a laugh, “so we’ve been joking that I’ve been screwed out of one present for 46 years.”
