WPBN: At this time, the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is looking for businesses that can offer Commercial Driver License (CDL) skills examinations that are given by third parties.
The Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) will authorize third-party organizations to administer the abilities examinations for commercial driver license applicants after establishing a Third-Party program in accordance with Delaware Administrative Code Section 2226 (also known as “Regulation 2226”).
After meeting the required criteria, which include establishing and maintaining a basic skill testing site that conforms to both DMV and federal standards, developing a detailed route for their CDL road test, and completing the training program offered by the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), non-DMV entities will be granted permission to administer the CDL skills exam beginning in the spring of 2025.
This new program will be implemented once authorized.
“We are extremely excited to launch our Third-Party Program,” Secretary of Transportation Nicole Majeski stated. “CDL drivers play such an integral role in our lives transporting passengers, goods, and materials not only across Delaware, but all over the world. They help build residences, businesses, infrastructure, and all things in-between. As the demand for drivers continues to grow so does the need for more testing sites.”
“DMV can only test a set number of people each day,” Director of DMV Amy Anthony stated. “This program creates more opportunity for interested applicants without sacrificing the integrity of our testing process as safety is and will always remain our first priority.”
