In a harrowing brush with death, a driver in Pennsylvania is counting his blessings after a piece of ice that was thrown from a passing semi-truck smashed his windshield. The driver is extremely grateful for his safety.
When the impact took place, Pocono Pines electrician Josh Keating was on his way from Pottsville to Allentown for a job. It was simply another Monday afternoon because he was traveling from Pottsville to Allentown.
During the terrifying incident, which took place on eastbound Interstate 78 close to Hamburg, a massive piece of ice erupted from a UPS tractor-trailer that was traveling in the opposite direction, as stated by Keating.
“Next thing I know, out of nowhere, I saw a split second, and then all I heard was a crash and bang, and my windshield came in,” he explained to reporters.
Keating’s company service truck was equipped with dashcams both inside and outside, which filmed the entire ordeal. The suddenness of the event, he added, caused him to have a momentary sense of disorientation.
When I was there, I ended up passing out. As he explained that his blood pressure had dramatically increased, he stated, “My adrenaline was through the roof.”
However, Keating was able to safely pull over and escape with only minor scrapes and bruises to his hands. He instinctively raised his hands to shield himself from the shattered glass, which allowed him to escape with only minor injuries.
“I definitely had angels with me,” he remarked, drawing attention to the fact that the accident was quite close to being fatal.
The Pennsylvania State Police have verified to that they are still conducting an investigation into the situation that led to the collision. When and if any prospective charges are filed, they will make the information on those charges released to the public.

Drivers in Pennsylvania are legally required to remove snow and ice from their vehicles within twenty-four hours of a snowfall, as stipulated by the statutes of the state.
Should you fail to comply, you may be subject to fines ranging from $200 to $1,500, particularly in the event that the ice that has become dislodged causes harm or death. Additionally, it is against the law to conceal windows with snow or ice.
Currently, Keating is a passionate advocate for the safety of drivers on the road. He strongly encourages all motorists, particularly those who operate commercial trucks, to take the necessary time to thoroughly clean their cars before making their way out onto the road.
