Firefighters in Orange County responded to a deadly incident involving a single vehicle just north of Taft on Wednesday.

First responders were called around 2 p.m. to South Orange Avenue and Jetport Drive, where an “auto accident with heavy entrapment on the train tracks” was reported, according to Orange County Fire Rescue.

According to a statement from troopers, the driver, a 31-year-old Orlando man, was traveling south on South Orange Avenue. Witnesses observed him swerving and speeding.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, ultimately colliding with a light pole and railroad warning sign, resulting in a fatal outcome at the scene.

A roadblock was placed in the southbound lanes of South Orange Avenue in order to make it easier for CSX Rail and the Florida Highway Patrol to respond to the situation. The normal flow of traffic resumed at four o’clock.

Investigations are now being conducted into the occurrence; however, at this time, no additional information has been made public.
