WPBN: A suspect has been taken into custody by the authorities in connection with the horrific death of Angelina Camillia Gonzales, a high school cheerleader who was savagely stabbed only days before Christmas. Gonzales was 17 years old. The tragic event has caused shockwaves to send through the community of Azusa, which is located in the state of California.
Gonzales’ family believes that her ex-boyfriend is to blame for her passing, and they base this belief on the evidence. On December 20, 2023, he reportedly picked her up from a cheering banquet and brought her to his residence, according to members of her family who reported the incident to the local station.
When police from the Azusa Police Department responded to a report at approximately ten o’clock at night, they discovered Gonzales suffering from severe stab wounds. Despite the fact that emergency medical personnel were attempting to save her life, she was pronounced dead at the local hospital where she was taken immediately.
Individuals belonging to Gonzales’ family assert that they were able to trace her location by utilizing her mobile phone, which ultimately led them to the residence of her ex-boyfriend. Caraballo, her stepfather, expressed his distress by noting that he had cautioned her on multiple occasions to avoid getting involved with her ex-boyfriend before she left him.
“When I got there, there was already crime scene tape up and forensics and all kinds of stuff. And I ran up to the officers like, ‘Hey, my daughter’s in there. You know, my daughter is in there. I’m trying to find her. She’s not home.’ And that’s when they told me, sit aside for a minute,” Robert Caraballo, Angelina’s stepfather stated.
Nevertheless, he acknowledged her caring side by noting, “She had a really big heart and always saw the good in him.” He was grateful for her kindness.
Angelina Gonzales would have turned 18 years old on January 7, 2024, according to the information that was shared on the GoFundMe website that was established in her honor by Gonzales’ mother, Letica Caraballo.
“She had such a great future ahead of her. She had a heart of gold. She was my perfect gorgeous Angel baby,” Letica Carabello stated. “I don’t even have the words to say. I can’t even cope. I need her. Our family is devastated. We appreciate all the support and love. Thank you all.”
An acquaintance of the victim who is 18 years old and a resident of Azusa is the only information that the authorities have provided on the suspect. The authorities have not yet disclosed the suspect’s identity.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, the arraignment of the suspect is set to take place on Tuesday.
