POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – Authorities have told a pest control company in South Florida to stop fumigations for good while they look into the deaths of two of the company’s workers.
Workers from Palm Beach County’s Anderson Pest Control, Inc. were found dead at the Baer’s Furniture factory at 1589 NW 12th Ave. in Pompano Beach on Saturday, hours after they finished fumigating the building.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office says that a third worker was taken to the hospital.
Tuesday, chemical teams had to evacuate the building and check it out because they were looking into the deaths of two workers. There were no dangerous chemicals found there.
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is now looking into it, and a spokesman for the agency said that Anderson Pest Control can’t do any fumigations until the review is done.
“Anderson Pest Control, Inc. is being looked into,” agency spokesman Aaron Keller said Thursday. “The department is aware of the situation.” “We are working with local, state, and federal partners, and we will let you know as soon as we have more information about our investigation.”
The bodies of the two workers were found in Hollywood and Boynton Beach. The police are still trying to figure out what killed them.
