Just before her trial was due to begin, the Alabama lady who arranged a fictitious date, persuaded the victim to be blindfolded and shackled, and then permitted another man to stab him 19 times, entered a guilty plea.
Shalyn Diaz pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the January attack, and on Monday a judge in Geneva County sentenced her to ten years in jail, according to the prosecution.
The victim was contacted by Diaz over Facebook Messenger on January 6 and they arranged a time to drive around the region in her car the following day, according to the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office. At about 7 p.m., she picked him up at his apartment in Dothan.
The victim had no idea that a man by the name of Robert Hall was hidden in the trunk.

After some time of driving about, Diaz pulled over and asked the victim to put on handcuffs and a blindfold before asking them to sit in the back car.
The victim did so, and Hall stole into the backseat of the trunk. According to deputies, Hall began stabbing and strangling the man with a cord. Using the cord to pull the victim out of the car, Hall stabbed the man multiple times, according to authorities. Hall stabbed the victim nineteen times in total.
The victim was left for dead on the side of the road as Hall and Diaz quickly drove off. But a vehicle saw the man still in handcuffs with the cord around his neck and called for assistance.
The victim was taken by paramedics to a hospital in critical condition, and he managed to recover from his wounds.
A grand jury indicted Hall and Diaz in April on counts of attempted murder and kidnapping after police detained them for a few days. On June 12, Hall entered a guilty plea to attempted murder, and a judge sentenced him to life in prison, according to Dothan ABC affiliate WDHN.
