Authorities in New York City say the founder of the movie ticket company Fandango died on Tuesday after apparently taking his own life by falling from a five-star hotel.
In Palm Beach, Florida, on Tuesday morning, J. Michael Cline, 64, was discovered to be “unconscious and unresponsive.”
The Kimberly Hotel, located at 145 East 50th St. in Manhattan, was the scene of a 911 call made just after ten in the morning by New York City police, who discovered Cline suffering from injuries “indicative of a fall from an elevated position.” At 10:30, they declared him dead.
While an investigation is ongoing, according to the police, “no criminality is suspected.”
An inquiry regarding the cause and manner of death was not immediately answered by the medical examiner’s office. Cline was an entrepreneur by trade. He quit Fandango in 2011 after founding it in 2000.
He attended Harvard Business School and Cornell University, per his LinkedIn page. He was the chairman and director of Acumen, a firm he created in 2010 that outsources lab operations for large hospitals, until 2017.
In addition, he was the founder and chairman of Accolade, a health services provider for big companies and hospital systems, which he led from 2007 to 2022.
