WPBN: Several charges have been brought against a parent in Arizona who is accused of attacking two children who were riding electric bicycles as his own son observed from the car.
The incident reportedly took place in a neighborhood in Scottsdale one month ago, according to the police.
On December 27, at approximately 4:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to the location where witnesses reported that a guy had exited an SUV and “beat up a kid on an e-bike” before fleeing the area to avoid further investigation.
After a while, a law enforcement officer came across the SUV and pulled it over. Richard Davidson, who is 52 years old, was identified as the defendant by the police.
Davidson is said to have told investigators that he was traveling with his son when he saw many children on e-bikes swerving in and out of traffic before he “took care of it.” This is according to the records that were filed in the court case.
When Davidson was pressed to elaborate, he stated that he had grabbed two phones that belonged to the children before leaving the area. He claimed that he had claimed to have taken the phones for ransom in order to communicate with the parents of the children.
Davidson is said to have exited the truck, removed and thrown an electric bicycle from the road, and then pursued one of the children, as evidenced by the video that was taken during the incident. According to reports, the video shows Davison stealing the youngster’s phone after Davidson continues to chase him until the child falls to the ground under his or her own weight.
After some time has passed, it is said that Davidson was observed removing another child from a moving electric bicycle. Following this, it was stated that Davidson compelled the child to go down on the ground and took their phone before going back to his vehicle and driving away.
An further video shows a child walking along the roadway at the time that Davidson “appears to steer to the right, attempting to hit the juvenile before driving away,” according to the records filed by the police within the court system.
All of the video footage has not yet been made available to the general public or the media by the police.
However, according to the investigators, Davidson never showed any sign of regret for the assault. He stated on multiple occasions that he did not approve of children riding electric bicycles and that he had, at one point, relocated away from Scottsdale due to the presence of electric bicycles.

Davidson was questioned by the police on the reasons he had not reported the instances involving the electric bicycles to them. In the past, he had attempted to contact you, but he stated that “the fourth time’s the charm.”
On a bond of $35,000, Davidson was taken into custody and placed into the Maricopa County Jail. Multiple charges, including criminal assault and robbery, have been brought against him right now.
