IMMOKALEE, Fla. — A guy from Immokalee was taken into custody after he threatened to shoot more than one person at the Seminole Casino.
Around 10:30 p.m. on April 9, a Seminole Police Department officer was on watch near the Casino. At the Casino Car Valet Window, there was a lot of noise that seemed to be caused by 43-year-old Morris Burgess.
Burgess was yelling at a Valet worker while holding a black fabric backpack. His hand was steady inside the bag, waiting.
“I’m going to shoot you,” Burgess kept saying, and it was clear that he had a gun in his bag because he kept referring to it.
As soon as the cop started to help, the worker took off and ran to the front of the Casino. Burgess walked quickly and kept his hand in the bin the whole time.
Once inside, Moris turned his anger toward another target and again hinted that he had a gun in his backpack.
Officers were able to get to the door and put Burgess in handcuffs because they thought he would follow through on his threats. But when his bag was looked through, no gun was found.
Burgess was caught for two counts of aggravated assault and one count of resisting arrest, even though he didn’t have a gun. Without any trouble, he was taken to the Collier County Jail.
