Florida Police Arrest Underwear-Clad Carjacking Suspect After Dramatic Chase!

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — One suspect was caught in his underwear after a high-speed drive through several counties in Florida.

On Wednesday, just before 2 p.m., officers were told that a stolen white Lexus from Miami-Dade County was going fast through Broward County on the Turnpike.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, were looking for the suspect.

Investigators said that during the three-county chase, the two people in the Lexus got out and tried to use a gun to steal another car in Broward County. A short time later, the two were able to take another car, a white Tesla, by force on Tamarac’s Commercial Boulevard.

The sheriff’s office said that after the car was stolen, a police truck hit the Tesla to stop it. The two suspects then ran away on foot, but one of them was caught by BSO’s V.I.P.E.R reaction team.

But the second person kept going by foot. Investigators said the second suspect tried to avoid being caught by swimming across a canal, running into a neighborhood, and entering a home on Northwest 54th Street in Tamarac. Luckily, everyone got out of the building safely.

Aerial video shows the second suspect running away from the scene during the whole chase. At first, the man was fully dressed, but by the end of the chase, he was just in his underwear.

The sheriff’s office said that units were able to encircle the person and tell them to give up. After a short while, the person left the house. As a measure, Tamarac Fire Rescue took the suspect to the hospital while SWAT cleared the house.

Detectives are still looking into what happened in Broward County with the armed carjacking, attempted armed carjacking, and violent running and escaping.
