Fort Lauderdale Airport Returns to Normal Operations After Security Scare

FORT LAUDERDALE — On Sunday, authorities ordered a temporary evacuation of the upper-level check-in area at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport due to a security-related police investigation, as stated in an official tweet by the airport.

At around 10:30 a.m., the Broward Sheriff’s office received a call reporting a suspicious unattended bag at Terminal 1.

The officials announced via Twitter, shortly before 1 p.m., that the upper level of T1 and the upper-level entrance to the airport have been reopened, and operations are returning to normal.

Furthermore, around 12 p.m., the upper-level road to Terminal 1 was closed as part of the investigation.

Passengers planning to travel through Terminal 1 were advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates on their flight status.

For drop-offs at Terminal 1, travelers were instructed to use the lower-level area.
