During a kids’ party in a Fort Lauderdale public park on Sunday afternoon, a youngster was shot.

Around a picnic area and playground under cover on the northern side of Riverland Park & Pool was crime scene tape. The yellow tape reached Southwest Ninth Street, which is close to 26 Avenue.

The picnic area was decorated with primary-colored party décor inspired by Sesame Street. A red table was encircled by little chairs. A backdrop for pictures and a balloon-laden archway that fell.

What was left of the quick terror after a drive-by gunshot was the chaos.

A representative for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Detective Ali Adamson, stated that when police first arrived, it was just after 4:30 p.m. and they discovered the 2-year-old child hurt.

As a trauma alert, the child was taken by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue personnel to the Broward Health Medical Center. Family members stood outside the emergency zone, waiting for updates.

Following the shooting, Fort Lauderdale police officers were back at the park inspecting the enclosed playground. Investigators conversed with a guy and a woman.

The shooting occurred close to pools and sports fields. Additionally, it was close to the Our Lady Queen of Martyrs School, Riverland Elementary School, and Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Station 47.
