Authorities in Houston reported that a chopper struck a radio tower on Sunday night, causing a big fire and several fatalities.

Four persons, including a toddler, were on board when the private helicopter crashed, according to Police Chief J. Noe Diaz, who made this announcement at a news conference.

The helicopter apparently damaged a radio tower before starting the fire at approximately 7:54 p.m. local time, according to the Houston Fire Department’s initial report of the mishap, which occurred in the city’s Second Ward district.

Fire authorities told reporters at the news conference that a fire had spread up to three blocks before it was put out. The local businesses were closed at the time.

According to Diaz, nobody on the ground seemed to be injured. He identified it as a Robinson R44 helicopter.
