An incident on July 4th in Huntington Beach resulted in the deaths of 2 persons, the injuries of 3, and the arrest of 1.

Around 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, the Huntington Beach Police Department received a report of an assault with a deadly weapon close to 16th Street and Pecan Avenue. Officers responded to the call.

Then, according to the authorities, they discovered “several victims with significant injuries.”

Five persons were discovered with what appeared to be stab wounds, according to the Huntington Beach Fire Department, although authorities would not comment on the kind of weapon that was used.

Three individuals were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while two more persons passed away at the scene. The victims’ identities are unknown.

According to Jennifer Carey, a municipal spokesman, “the nature of how this happened, the events leading up to it, what transpired during, that’s all part of the investigation and we hope to have more details later on.”

The name of the detained suspect is a secret. Investigators are currently investigating whether that person was related in any way to the victims.

“Obviously, anytime something like this happens, it is a scary situation, but what I can say is our detectives are taking it very seriously and doing everything they possibly can to find out what happened,” Carey continued.

According to the police, there is no reason to think that the occurrence poses a threat to public safety going forward.
