At a baseball game on Friday night in Waldorf, Maryland, strong winds caused a bouncy house to go airborne, injuring one child and killing a 5-year-old boy, according to authorities.
According to a news statement from Charles County officials, the incident happened at Regency Furniture Stadium during a Southern Maryland Blue Crabs game at approximately 9:20 p.m. local time.
The bounce house next to the playing field was being used by a group of kids when a sudden gust of wind lifted it 15 to 20 feet into the air, according to the county. Before the bouncy house hit the playing field, the kids fell out of it.
According to county officials, a 5-year-old kid was taken to a local hospital and later passed away. A second child, whose injuries were not life-threatening, was evacuated to a hospital.
No other information was given right away.
