WPBN: For allegedly shooting and killing a mother and her daughter, who was four years old, earlier this year while they were traveling on the Turnpike in Florida late at night, two men have been charged with first-degree murder in the state of Florida.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Beatrice Saintvil, 28, and her daughter Janelle were traveling eastbound on Florida‘s Turnpike near Hollywood Boulevard and Mile Marker 49 on June 7 at approximately 11:15 p.m. when Antoine Harris, 28, and Jaquan Thomas, 29, opened fire on their vehicle and fatally shot them. Both of them were pronounced dead at the scene.
Thomas was charged with two counts of murder on Friday, while Harris was charged after he was detained on Friday in Miami Gardens following a “months-long” investigation. Thomas was charged while he was incarcerated in Georgia for offenses that were unrelated to the murders that he was accused of committing.
“Harris will be extradited to Broward County,” the sheriff’s office stated in a press release. “Thomas is currently incarcerated in Georgia on unrelated charges and will also be extradited to Broward County.”
She was attempting to communicate with her daughter during their final minutes together, which occurred when they were parked on the left shoulder of the turnpike, according to the transcripts of a 911 call that Saintvil made on the night of the shooting.
According to WSVN, the dispatcher stated that the caller repeatedly asked, “Where is the baby?” and “Get up, get up.” As per the authorities, Janelle ended up passing away at the scene of the accident, whereas Saintvil passed away at a hospital.
Anyley Cabrera, a driver who was on his way home from work that evening and observed Saintvil’s automobile on the side of the road, reported to the Miami CBS station WFOR that the vehicle appeared to have been completely destroyed by a shower of bullets.
“The car was destroyed,” she stated.

“This is one of those cases that truly breaks your heart,” said Claudinne Caro, a spokesman for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, in an interview. Caro was describing the particularly cruel nature of the double homicide, which has not yet been linked to a specific motivation. We are talking about a mother and her daughter, who was four years old, who were both shot and killed inside their vehicle.
Earlier this year, the authorities announced that they were conducting an investigation to determine whether or not the deaths of Saintvil and Janelle were the result of an incident involving road rage or whether or not they were targeted.
“Detectives have more questions than answers and they really need the public to come forward,” Caro stated in June. “Somebody must have heard something. Somebody could have seen something.”
Following the events that transpired during the shooting, Kyanna Librun, Saintvile’s sister, expressed that she and other members of the family were eager to understand what had transpired.

“We want to know who did it,” she stated. “We want to see their face and ask them why. Why? A 4-year-old baby girl and 27-year-old mother who never had a problem with anyone, why? We want to know, why?”
