Police reported that a fight between neighbors turned violent, leaving four people dead and two injured. Authorities in Honolulu are looking into the event as a possible homicide.
The gunman, who was also shot and killed, shot three victims fatally.
A “neighbor-on-neighbor dispute” resulted in gunshots during a family get-together in Waianae Valley late on Saturday night, according to Honolulu police.
In an early Sunday social media post, the Honolulu Police Department stated, “”Shortly after 11:15 p.m. Saturday, HPD responded to a residence in the area of 85-1300 Waianae Valley Road.
A caller reported that someone was attempting to smash several cars into a house on a dead-end street in Waianae with a front-end loader, according to the Honolulu Police Department.
At a press conference on Sunday, HPD Homicide Lt. Deena Thoemmes stated, “Multiple individuals were in the carport and fled or tried to flee when the suspect opened fire, striking the victims.”
According to Thoemmes, a 31-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman were seriously hurt and sent to the hospital, while three women—ages 36, 34, and 29—were shot and killed.
According to Thoemmes, the 58-year-old suspect driving the front-loader was shot and killed by a 42-year-old resident of the house.

Arthur “Joe” Logan, the chief of Honolulu Police, described the most recent occurrence as a “neighbor-on-neighbor dispute” and stated it had nothing to do with the previous wave of shootings on Oahu’s west side.
“Unfortunately, criminals are criminals and from time to time, they choose to commit a violent act. And sometimes they may wait for police to pass by and then commit an act,” he stated.
In an effort to reduce gun violence in the area, authorities have conducted community outreach and boosted police presence in the wake of the shootings on Oahu’s west side.
