Reports state that a 60-year-old man was taken into custody on Sunday in Hawaii for reportedly stabbing and killing a Wendy’s employee while gravely wounding another.
Reynaldo Cheney was accused of murder and criminal contempt of court, according to the Honolulu Police Department’s arrest logs.
The incident occurred at a Wendy’s on Farrington Highway in Nanakuli on Sunday just before 10 a.m., according to the Honolulu Police Department.
The two other individuals engaged were fast food restaurant employees, and police confirmed with the station that the suspect—later identified as Cheney—was a customer.
A 22-year-old employee approached Cheney as he was moving furniture, according to the police, and requested him to stop.
Following the suspect’s claimed disparaging remark to the staff, the guest and employee’s back and forth intensified, according to police.
According to reports, a 44-year-old staff member broke up the argument between the two and led the man outside the eatery, where it resumed. The male, who was 22 years old, struck the employee once, according to the police, and the employee stabbed both of them in reply.
After receiving emergency care, both workers were sent to a neighboring hospital. Afterwards, the 22-year-old worker passed away from his wounds.
