Hello Kitty and Friends Café Makes Its L.A. Debut at Universal City Walk

This Friday, Universal City Walk will host the opening of the first Hello Kitty and Friends Café in Los Angeles County. The nearby retail establishment, Sanrio Smile Shop, is scheduled to open on the same day.

For many years, the Animation Studio at Universal Studios Hollywood has offered Sanrio-branded stuff, however the theme park does not currently have a Hello Kitty restaurant or retail area.

A variety of sugary grab-and-go items, including macaron sets, Hello Kitty cookies, and beverages, will be available at the café. Everything about Hello Kitty and Friends will be available at the Sanrio Smile Shop.

The store will feature a variety of items such as collector pins, t-shirts, plush toys, lanyards, jewelry, phone cases, collectible pins, hats with embellishments, backpacks featuring Hello Kitty’s signature bow, and more.

The store will also have a Hello Kitty-themed photo op and goods inspired by the Hello Kitty and Friends Café.

“Hello Kitty continues to bring her message of friendship and kindness to Universal Studios Hollywood theme park where she meets with guests in a dedicated area adjacent to the Animation Studio Store, which offers exclusive merchandise that celebrates her status as a global pop icon,” according to a news release.
