Many people who are still recovering from the historic rain and flooding that hit their communities are worried about the chance of more rain.
The people who live in the Lauder Lakes Mobile Home Community in Fort Lauderdale were on edge on Sunday, and some of them said what happened this week was traumatic.
Julie Lopez has done nothing but clean up for the last few days. Flooding washed away her mobile home in Fort Lauderdale.
“I had to leave my house by 11:30. She said, “It was two feet.” “And I went to my neighbor’s house. It was up to my shoulders as I walked there. We’ve never had this happen here. Not this way!”
And Lopez didn’t want to take any chances with the next round of rain on Sunday night.
“The plan for today is that I’m leaving right now,” she said.
Judy Watkins is another person who lives in the Lauder Lakes area. The amount of water that got into her bedroom made the floor cave in.
