I-95 Chase Ends in Arrest: Jacksonville's Northside on Lockdown

The individual whom the police pursued through Jacksonville’s Northside is now in custody.

Jerson Edmond, aged 30, was incarcerated at Duval County Jail shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday.

Earlier, the report stated that the closure of I-95 in both directions at Golfair Boulevard on Monday, as the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office chased a suspect who allegedly fired gunshots near the intersection of Harts Road and Dunn Avenue.

A small group of bystanders near the intersection claimed that the gunshots originated from a man driving a white Dodge truck.

Officers located the truck and initiated pursuit. The chase, which reached speeds of up to 90 mph, saw Edmond speeding past schools and disregarding red lights.

The officers executed a pit maneuver to bring the truck to a halt on I-95.

Following a brief standoff on the interstate, Edmond exited the truck and was apprehended.

He now faces charges of discharging a firearm in a public area, attempting to evade the police, and reckless driving
