The Social Security Administration (SSA) said that the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) check for June 2025 will not be sent out. If the first of the month is a Sunday or holiday, the deposit is made on the business Friday before. This is in line with traditional practice.
The early payment was made in this case on May 30. Some recipients were confused on sites like Reddit, thinking that the lack of a deposit in June meant they would not get the benefit. The SSA made it clear that this was just a change in dates and not a cut to the funds.
Official word from the SSA on the payment date for May
An SSA employee said that when the first of the month is not a work day, the automated system moves the money around. One payment was made for May 2025, and another was made in advance for June 2025. The office made it clear that this was not an extra or extra amount.
Some people who got the May payment thought it was a “extra,” which threw off their buying plans, as shown in online forums. The SSA argues that monthly deposits and payment adjustments are two different things. This is even more difficult to understand when the first day of the month is a holiday or weekend.
Since the first day of August, November, and December 2025 falls on a weekend or holiday, SSI advance payments will also be given in those months. Since August 1 is a Friday, the payment will be moved to that day. The November payment will be moved to October 31 (also a Friday), and the December payment will be moved to November 29 (also a Friday).
What is the most money that SSI will give you?
In 2025, the most a person can get is $967 a month, and a couple can get $1,450 a month. These amounts could change if prices go up or down or if the beneficiary’s income changes. The SSA made it clear that getting two checks in the same month does not mean you are getting paid twice; it just means the calendar has been rearranged.
Some beneficiaries have used things like bank alerts and actual calendars to keep things clear. You can check accurate dates and amounts on the My Social Security platform. If there are any problems, the SSA says to get in touch with local offices or look at government tables.
Conditions for being able to join the SSI program
People with few resources who meet one of these conditions can get SSI: they must be at least 65 years old and have a low income; they must be certified disabled and unable to work for 12 months or more; or they must be totally or partially blind (adjusted vision ≤20/200).
Those who want to apply must be U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or foreigners who meet certain criteria. Also, they can’t have more than $2,000 in assets for an individual or $3,000 for a couple filing together. Things like a main home, a basic car, and personal items needed for daily life are not included.
