Two infants were discovered abandoned in a ditch in below-freezing weather by a man picking up items outside his house.

When Robert Deane noticed two car seats in a ditch, he decided to leave his house on Indianapolis’ southeast side. He discovered two infant girls left in freezing circumstances after conducting additional research.

The girls, who were 4 and 5 months old, had been abducted earlier in a stolen car, police found out. How long the girls were left outside in the 27-degree weather remained unknown.

William Young, a spokesman for the Indianapolis Police Department, stated: “It’s cold out here. Who knows what could have happened if this particular individual was not able to come outside. It’s extremely cold, and we’re still in our early stages of trying to figure out who was responsible for this.”

As the police arrived, Young commended Deane for looking after the girls, saying, “He did what any good person would do. He got those infants to shelter. This is an outcome that we wanted. I can’t thank that good Samaritan enough. We don’t have a suspect in custody, but that will be our next priority is figuring out who is responsible for this particular incident.”

It follows the death of a newborn child who was thrown from a fourth-story window on Skid Row in Los Angeles, according to the police.

According to police, the infant boy was discovered dead at 5:30 a.m. on Thursday in downtown Los Angeles, in an alleyway across from the 500 block of San Pedro Street.

While waiting for emergency responders, a bystander reportedly stepped in and tried to administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation to the infant. The baby was tragically declared deceased at the site. After the mother gave delivery, the infant might have been tossed from a bathroom window on the fourth floor.

According to, a woman was admitted to the hospital at about the same time as the event due to bleeding from her pubic region.

Police arrived immediately after the woman was taken to the hospital for treatment, arrested her, and then released her while they conducted additional investigation.
