A man was detained in Utah County on the side of Interstate 15 after he allegedly attempted to kidnap his girlfriend and bring her back to California.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, West Valley Police reported receiving a call from a member of the victim’s family. The victim was born in California and currently resides in Utah.
When the victim’s boyfriend paid her a visit, he allegedly escorted her to the grocery store but, according to the police, had other plans and was going to California. He told her stuff like he couldn’t live without her while driving, according to the police.
The woman texted her family member to let them know where she was at all times. After that, the family member dialed 911.

After discovering security camera footage of the vehicle the couple was driving, West Valley City Police provided local law enforcement with some basic information.
Troops from the Utah Highway Patrol saw the car and stopped the driver on I-15 in Lehi. The victim is now with family, and the man was brought into custody. She was unharmed. The two are both in their mid-20s, according to the police.
Authorities stated that they anticipate the manāwhose name was withheld for the time beingābeing arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of kidnapping.
