After visiting a border town in Mexico to assist family, an Iowa woman vanished a month ago, and her son thinks she was abducted. Edgar Leguisano told Iowa’s News Now about his heartbreaking search for his mother, Chris, in an exclusive interview.

Chris Leguisano crossed the border to deliver a pickup vehicle and help family members after traveling from Des Moines to Edgar’s house in Texas. He said, “I don’t think my mom knew about the dangerousness going into this border town,” expressing his shock at the circumstances.

He told of their many trouble-free excursions to Mexico.

“I’ve traveled with my mom to Mexico plenty of times, and we’ve never encountered any situation of being held captive or, you know, being targeted as a tourist.”

Americans have been cautioned about the dangers in border regions by the U.S. State Department. Travelers were forewarned by the U.S. Embassy in Mexico in July about the risk of kidnapping and ransom in and around Reynosa.

He can only hold onto his faith for the time being. “I just don’t know where she is, but I believe in my heart that she is alive. And I’m not sure who owns her,” he remarked.

Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst of Iowa have expressed their worries and said they will not put up with attacks on American nationals overseas. The senators are aggressively looking for additional details regarding the FBI’s and Mexican authorities’ search for Chris Leguisano.

Iowa’s News Now is informed by a State Department spokesman that they are aware of the matter and have been in communication with local police who are looking for Chris; however, they declined to comment directly on the inquiry.

Edgar wrote to his mother, “Mom, I love you with all my heart. And I’m sorry that you’re going through this. I can’t imagine what you are fighting for every day, but just know that we’re here praying for you every day. And I’m not going to stop praying until you’re home. I love you, mom.”
