The Internal Revenue Service will not charge taxpayers in Florida or the other eleven states for filing their tax returns.
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) reports that twelve states are implementing the Direct File pilot program gradually. Arizona, California, Florida, New York, Washington, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wyoming are among them.
The program will likely be more broadly accessible in mid-March, despite not being accessible to the general public just yet.
The new initiative, according to the IRS’s Direct File website page, will let users:
- In either English or Spanish, submit a free federal tax return for 2023.
- Including tax details and detailed instructions
- Engage in online chat with IRS customer service agents in real time.
- Using desktop PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones, access it
Checking their eligibility at directfile.irs.gov is a must for anyone interested in filing their taxes under the pilot.
