WPBN: It is predicted that beginning on the first of 2013, persons in the state of Kentucky who are interested in obtaining medical marijuana will be allowed to receive prescriptions for medical cannabis.
At the A-list Medical Cannabis Clinic and Spa in Jeffersontown, there is a fair level of optimism (no pun intended) regarding the fact that there will be a consistent flow of patients who are looking for the relief that can be received from utilizing medical cannabis products.
This is said to be the case because the clinic and spa are located in Jeffersontown.
The concept for the clinic was conceived by Cyndi Byers, a nurse practitioner who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis a year ago. She is the one who came up with the idea.
“Really it was to create a wellness center,” Byers stated, “where I could get something like medical cannabis and also there’s red light therapy, there is massage. It’s a whole, holistic approach.”
Individuals who have been diagnosed with conditions such as chronic pain, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), multiple sclerosis, persistent nausea, and cancer will have the opportunity to bring their medical records to the clinic, where a team of nurse practitioners will be able to provide prescriptions.
“Chronic pain, PTSD, multiple sclerosis, chronic nausea, cancer,” nurse practitioner Heidi Gallo stated, “those are all diagnoses that patients tend to be medicated with other things that THC can help now.”
In the near future, nurse practitioners such as Gallo and others will begin the process of writing prescriptions, planning follow-up appointments, and evaluating the development of their patients.
Due to the fact that cannabis products are not now available, you will not be able to locate any of them at the Clinic and Spa. In Jefferson County, there are only two dispensaries that have been authorized to operate legally using cannabis.
On the first day of the year, there is no chance that any of them will be prepared to engage in commercial or financial transactions. When patients arrive earlier than expected, they will be obliged to go to Ohio in order to get their prescriptions filled.
Taking into consideration the forecasts that have been produced about this topic, it is now projected that the state of Kentucky will start selling products that include cannabis for therapeutic purposes in the month of March in the year 2025.
