Due to an allergy risk, breakfast snack packs that were sold at Kroger and Meijer shops in 13 states are being recalled. A product called Berry Buddies, berries & pancakes that contains wheat and eggs—ingredients not disclosed on the label—is recalled, affecting 694 cases. For those who are allergic to either component, these allergens present a substantial risk of life-threatening responses.
The recall notice was published by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on Wednesday.
The recalled products were sold at Kroger and Meijer stores in a number of states, including Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Naturipe, a significant berry producer with headquarters in Salinas, California, distributes the products. The snack packs are usually located in the produce or deli sections of the supermarkets’ refrigerated sections.
The impacted products are packaged in plastic containers weighing 2.1 ounces (60 grams), bearing the lot number #1097901 on the top and the expiration date of 2/25/2025.
After it was discovered that a production error had resulted in the incorrect back label being applied to the packages, the recall was started. Despite being ingredients in the product, wheat and eggs were left off the ingredient list due to a labeling error.
Due to this error, the product may unintentionally be consumed by people who are allergic or sensitive to these substances, which could result in allergic responses.
The business has advised customers to dispose of or return any impacted packages for a refund now that the problem has been fixed.
The recalled product should not be consumed by anybody who are allergic to wheat or eggs, or who are sensitive to either ingredient. Rather, they ought either discard the item or send it back to the retailer for a complete reimbursement.
