Man from Gastonia Faces Arrest in Florida for Stabbing Girlfriend Over Ignored Calls

WPBN: A Gastonia man was taken into custody in Jacksonville, Florida, on Monday after authorities claimed he had stabbed his girlfriend at her house following a night out on October 12.

When the victim arrived at the hospital following the stabbing, an off-duty Belmont police reported the event. Before coming home at 2:30 a.m. on October 12, the victim informed officers that she and her companion had gone out earlier that evening.

The victim reported that shortly after, Elijah Raheem Lurry, her boyfriend, who is 22 years old, came inside and accused her of not returning his calls while she was away.

According to the victims, during the altercation, Lurry stabbed his girlfriend and beat them both.

According to reports, Lurry dragged the two into a room and detained them there for a number of hours before departing. After escaping, the victims arrived at the hospital at approximately 8:30 a.m.

Lurry disappeared after fleeing the house. They viewed him as dangerous and armed.

He is scheduled to be extradited back to North Carolina, where he will be charged with two counts of first-degree kidnapping, attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon causing serious injury, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, misdemeanor domestic violence, misdemeanor communicating threats, and felony probation violation.
