Man Paralyzed by Police Stun Gun Sparks Outrage and Demands for Justice!

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. – A police stun gun hit a man in South Florida, leaving him paralyzed. The whole thing was caught on tape.

The family of Jesus Goratereaux says the cops beat him, but the officers say the video shows he was running away from them.

He can’t move below the chest now.

“I fell and hit my head on the ground. They picked me up and pretended I was awake. “I didn’t know what was going on,” Goratereaux said.

Because of that hit, his spine cracked and broke in two.

Goratereaux said that Miami-Dade police officers were in the wrong place at the wrong time on January 3 at the corner of 15th Avenue and 88th Street in southwest Miami-Dade.

When police showed up, he was using a friend’s phone.

“They told me, ‘Hey, you, come here, come here.'” I said, “What’s going on has nothing to do with me.” I’m just passing by on my way to see some friends,'” Goratereaux remembered.

That’s when he said police searched him without a warrant and said it was because he had broken driving laws.

According to the arrest record from Miami-Dade police, Goratereaux “had an open arrest warrant for driving while license suspended,” which is what led to the arrest.

If you slow down the film, you can see Goratereaux running away from the police. They used their Tasers on him, and when he fell to the ground, his head hit the curb.

Goratereaux spent two months in the intensive care unit (ICU) at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital.

In a message to Local 10, the Miami-Dade police said:

“The Miami-Dade Police Department knows about what happened with Jesus Goratereaux. On the night of the event, our Professional Compliance Bureau went to the scene to make sure that all department rules and procedures were followed. They found that there were no violations. It makes us sad to hear that he was hurt in this situation.”
