Authorities confirmed that a man and a woman were taken into custody on Tuesday at Miami International Airport following their boarding of an American Airlines flight that was destined for Las Vegas.
Flight attendants saw that Eugenio Ernesto Hernandez-Garnier, 27, of Las Vegas, was bleeding from his forehead and had a bloody bandage covering his wound, according to the suspects’ arrest records.
Hernandez-Garnier said he didn’t have any clean bandages despite being asked by Miami-Dade police to clean up the blood and replace his bandages.
The crew reportedly urged him to leave the aircraft several times after that because they were worried about both his health and the possibility of body fluid contamination.
Hernandez-Garnier and his traveling companion, Las Vegas native Yusleydis Blanca Loyola, 32, reportedly told police they would not go, claiming that “if they could not fly, no one else can either.”
The arrest papers state that when airport police got to the scene, they ordered Hernandez-Garnier and Loyola to leave again, but they refused.
In a TikTok video of the altercation, Loyola is heard shouting that Hernandez-Garnier had recently undergone surgery. Despite being warned that they would be arrested for trespassing, according to the police, the individuals refused to get off the plane.

According to the reports, “After a brief moment of resisting to be handcuffed, they were subsequently placed under arrest.”
The couple’s actions, according to the police, led the other passengers to disembark as well, which delayed the aircraft. Before being sent to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, the two suspects were assessed at Jackson West, according to the officials.
Both of them are accused of violating the law after receiving a warning and of nonviolently resisting an officer. The reason for either defendant’s bleeding was not mentioned in the arrest papers.
