Early on Saturday morning, a three-story apartment building in Miami that was boarded up caught fire. Firefighters swiftly discovered that the structure was not empty, and they hurried to save more than a dozen lives.
Multiple complaints about a fire around three in the morning sent Miami Fire Rescue racing to the complex at 921 SW Seventh St., according to Miami Fire Lt. Pete Sanchez.
According to him, when firefighters came, there was a lot of smoke and flames coming from the second and third stories. Firefighters assumed the building was empty because the first floor’s windows and doors were boarded up.
However, more research showed the opposite to be true.

“Firefighters extended hose lines and ascended to the fire floor for an aggressive fire attack,” Sanchez stated. “Simultaneously, a search was conducted for victims, which was deemed all clear.”
After being rescued, 14 residents—including a toddler and multiple pets—are currently without a place to live. According to Sanchez, one occupant received treatment for minor burns but declined to visit the hospital.
